◼ “60 is the new 21”

◼ Grabbed this one on pure instinct, I saw a flash of something unusual from inside the car and took a picture of the sparkle as it passed.

◼ Looked at the shot to see what that was…and there was the Birthday girl.

◼ What I find unusual about this shot is that the glasses seem more appropriate for someone revelling in their age and having fun, and yet this woman seems removed from the scene, somewhere in the background looking in on the scene disapprovingly.

◼ Or perhaps the melancholy in that look was reserved for ye olde nosey photographer dude.

◼ Everyone wants to be on stage right. That moment in the spotlight as the audience cheers and roses fall at your feet.◼ I was half expecting to catch someone on the way out in this shot, in the end this one had to do.◼ I passed the cinema premiere of Twiggy on the way up to this shot. There was a red carpet but surprisingly artists were literally coming out of the cinema walking onto the red carpet and then going back in. No room for fancy cars and chauffeurs in the middle of Leicester Square, I guess they hadto make do lol

◼ “5 Feet Away and Poles Apart” ◼ There I was perambulating in the middle of Oxford Street looking for a victim and a pane of glass. [Makes no sense now, but all shall be revealed.] ◼ I’m turning to survey my surroundings, as the world turns, as life circles back on itself. My guess is that the people in this photograph have very different things on their minds. ◼ Life is like water there is no holding it back and as time passes for us all we can only strive to be the MVP in whichever game we have chosen to play. It’s not done till it’s over!

◼ My brain only had enough time to say that’s an interesting woman, with an odd couple in tow… (on review they are almost certainly not together?) ◼ “Shoot first edit later”. This will be inscribed on the pedestal at the base of the 60-foot statue of me on horseback, camera in hand, that will inevitably be commissioned once I breathe out with no in.◼ Another inscription, slightly smaller font, below the 1st would be “I’m glad I did”.◼ It’s all subjective but if the young girl had not looked at me the shot wouldn’t work, if the guy had looked at me the shot wouldn’t work, if the woman had looked at me the shot wouldn’t work, if the guy at the back did not have his eyes closed the shot wouldn’t work. You should be able to tell I like this one.

◼ “Tap tap tap…”◼ This dude looked like he was ready to tap dance straight off the train at the next stop.◼ The candid shot was good, and I’ve added that to my WIP series, but he saw me pretty quickly and was ready for this one.◼ The hat and the umbrella is one thing but check out that pose! Surely he has practised that on multiple occasions. ◼ Life is short why not stand out from the crowd.

◼ “Portion ‘o chips and a steak and kidney pie please…salt and vinegar on the chips”

◼ This young lady was doing the job she was paid to do and doing it well. The paper was folded immaculately, and the chips were wrapped with remarkable precision.

◼ She had seen me with the camera and was probably aware of my intentions. So I had to wait for the moment when the chips were far more important than I was. Snap.

◼ The longer you look at this image the hungrier you get. Be warned!

◼ I had seen this shot many times in Greenwich before I actually captured it. Each time there was something wrong, either too many people at the bus stop, too many people in the shop, not the right person closest to the door, and so on, but the shot was always in my head.
